NATIONAL EXECUTIVE MEMBERS

·        Are financial members.

·        Are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting

·        There are a total of 6 positions to fill, including National President, National Treasurer and Regional Representatives.

·        The National Coordinator supports the work of the National Executive in her part-time role.

·        Every Branch has an Executive Member representing them.

Information and forms can be obtained via the local branch or by request from National Office – national@pregnancyhelp.org.nz .  A completed nomination form needs to be received by National Office no later than 30 September 2010. Forward via email or posted to PO Box 12000, Wellington 6144.

 

  

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF NATIONAL EXECUTIVE MEMBERS?

 

·        To assist the National Executive to meet their own objectives as identified in its Annual Plan and the National Strategic Plan, and also with respect to the enhancement of information, resources and collaboration within the organisation and also the wider community.

 

·        An understanding and a willingness to deepen the level of understanding of, the principles and practices associated with best practice as it relates to the whole organisation.

 

·        A commitment to working within the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

 

  •    A commitment to the consolidation and development of Pregnancy Help Inc.
  •  An ability to participate in National Executive deliberations, to contribute their own ideas, to receive and consider the ideas of others, and in so doing to help establish a strong focused National Executive Team. 
  • An ability to think strategically and analytically. 
  • A willingness to contribute their own individual skills and experience to the National Executive, to assist them in fulfilling its stated objectives efficiently and effectively. 
  • A willingness to represent the National Executive at a Regional Level, to facilitate a network of relationships between branches and the National Executive.  This will ensure that the National Executive is aware of issues that may be of importance to the work of the whole organisation. 
  • An ability to work inclusively with people of different ethnic origins. 

TIME COMMITMENT

·        Four, one day meetings/year (usually held February, May/June, September and AGM in October/November).

 

·        Read circulated material and prepare portfolio reports prior to Executive meetings.

 

·        Provide written reports and information for National Executive Newsletters (internal and external).

 

·        To respond, mainly by e-mail, to occasional requests for comment or decision on matters relevant to the Executive’s activities.

 

·        To contribute to the work of the Executive through membership of a sub-committee, working group,   attend meetings, activities or training seminars related to the work of the Executive.

 

TERM OF OFFICE

The election of officers is held at the Annual General Meeting which will held in Taupo on Saturday 13h November 2010.   Attendance at the AGM is not mandatory for people being nominated..  If elected, the person would be expected to complete a full year unless something unforeseeable prevented them from doing so.

 

WHAT DOES IT COST ME?

Nothing!

·        Travel expenses are paid to attend meetings.

·        Reimbursements are made for costs associated with carrying out National Executive work such as telephone calls, stationery items, and mileage. 

·        An away from home allowance is currently paid to each member for attendance at meetings.
